Twitter to the rescue

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

I read on the CNET News blog this morning that Google.org are now investing in Twitter and Facebook in an effort to aid the Innovative Support to Emergencies, Diseases and Disaster (InSTEDD) organisation.

In a previous post (see Twitter, a fantastic waste of time) I suggested that Osama and pals might use the technology to aid their differences against our American bretheren, or perhaps ‘Twittter consoles’ might be used for tactical precision strikes on the caves in the Tora Bora mountains, so it’s nice that someone has thought of a much more pleasant and socially positive use for the technology! Twitter? Is it all a fantastic waste of time?!

Friday, October 12th, 2007

I got sent a link to twitter a few days ago, and was introduced to the wonderful world of interactive timewasting. If you’ve never seen this site, then have a look at http://www.twitter.com and you will see what I mean.

Basically, the idea of Twitter is that you post your thoughts as they occur to you and they not only appear in almost real-time, but an archive of thoughts appear in your profile. You can even, if you would want to do this, get an interactive map of the world at www.twittervision.com and see who is thinking what anywhere on the twitter globosphere.

Pandora Day of Silence, or Not?

Mac Style iConbar for Windows, Rocketdock

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Just a quick post here. Whenever I find a cool piece of software as I do from time to time I like to blog about it to let other people know. Recently I was given this very light weight and FREE app which adds the well loved functionality of the MAC iConbar. Unlike many other such pieces of software this really is a nice addition to the Windows desktop. Lets face it, if you are unfortunate enough to use Windows you might as well jive it up a bit. This is the company web site http://www.punksoftware.com/rocketdock the software as you can see is called Rocketdock. Nice drag and drop features and it really is simple. Does what it says on the time sort of stuff. Hope you like.

Copyright, Ipod and Anapod

Friday, January 12th, 2007

Being a merry member of the Ipod owners club, I naturally thought that I was purchasing MP3 technology at its most impressive and flexible. Whilst I am not disputing the first part of this I must say I was a little disappointed to find out that only one IPod can only be married up with one ITunes hence rendering my long established music collection of 24GB totally useless.
