Custom Wordpress Themes
Some of you may be wondering why we have don’t have the fantastic graphics and design of our main web site on our blog. Now while it has been my intention for a while to change this and to make it look more Firefly, having just looked into it I have changed my mind for now and decided to leave it as it is.
If you are interested that various reasons for this are mainly to do with the fact that if you are going to make changes to your word press theme, or even better, role your own, you really should sit down and take some time to plan. There is a large amount of CSS in the default Wordpress template with many individual elements coded out in similar but separate styles.
Just to let you know though I do still fully intend to look at this again some time soon, however going to 100% width for my blog needs some consideration. Obviously both from a Search Engine Optimisation point of view but also from a usability point of view. Please let me know how you get on with your Wordpress customisations.

With the variety of themes avalable it is usually best to find one that is closest to your normal site layout and start there.
That will save you quite a bit of effort and time. Personally , I’d rather take the time to search out the proper theme first then only need to do limited changes to the css and theme pages.
