Geographical Search Engine Optimisation

I’ve been thinking recently about the trends worldwide for Geographical Search Engine Optimisation and it seems to me that there could be a lot done to improve websites that are strongly targetted towards certain geographical regions such as:

  • The use of geographical IP addresses
  • Regional hosting of websites
  • Regionalising of incoming linking to the website

With the majority of search engines now employing regional variations of their search results, maybe these sorts of tactics may enable regionalised site managers to gain better results in regional search. I’d be interested to know if anyone has used these tactics and if any good results have been gained!
