Well it is a Friday, so I thought I would have a bit of a ramble and jot down what I think have been some key Landmarks in SEM 2009 so far this year. If, like me, you don't get enough time to read the 100's of blogs posts which pop up in your RSS reader / system tray every day then this post is definitely for you. Where appropriate I have included some of my personal insights in to these events and also some general musings on love, life and the search industry.
I hope you find this post useful and interesting!

For some reason or other I stumbled onto the search results for seo Consultant London this morning and noticed, yet again, how badly Google seems to be handling local search results. Take a look at the top 3...

Over at Intelligent Retail (my day job) I have been working on Scribbler, a supplier of brilliant and hilarious greetings cards with 15 stores UK wide. Having developed their new e-commerce website using the equally brilliant Intelligent Retail Connect multichannel EPOS system, they are now ready to go-live and are already thinking about seo.
Obviously, because the new site is not launched yet this puts some severe roadblocks in the way of traditional seo techniques!
After all you can't optimise a site that is not even there yet and you can't promote pages that don't exist!
What you can do however is a little bit of forward planning. Here are some tips...

Sorry I couldn't resist. Lesson 1, if you use DKI, make sure you do it right, particularly if you are a creative digital agency with clients like Citi, Nestle and Blueinc!! LOL...

Also, while I think of it is that clients like or do they actually have those clients? Really bad advert that.
Another spot courtesy of Eloi below. Barclays Bank (of all people) making some bad mistakes with DKI!
**Update** Digital agency in question have changed their ads to "Clients including." Good to know they are taking my advice.

seo professionals need tools right?! In our humble opinion the popular Firefox Browser is becoming the new best place to make use of and access most of your seo tools. There are so many seo tools out there! Some of them are web based, but lots of developers are now coding up their tools to include a web service aspect linking direct from Firefox. Please be aware, the plugins that I have installed are by NO MEANS exhaustive. None the less I thought some of your might find it interesting to see what tools I use in my browser on a daily basis.

Hey y-all,
Last night I was on Twitter and read a comment from the dudes over at WebmasterRadio.FM informing me that their show was streaming live in audio / visual over at Ustream.TV. I think they have actually been doing this for a little while now. Anyhow, I thought it was pretty cool, so I stayed a little while, had a chat and thought I would write this post. Here is the link too the WebmasterRadio Channel on Ustream. Go check them out.

I know this is a bit controversial but for those of you who want a bit more info on exactly what was said I thought I would drop a copy of my notes from Guy Kawasaki's key note at SES New York last week so that you can decide for your selves. This way you can see what I wrote first hand as he was speaking. What do you think? Is what Guy's been doing good practice or spam liable to end in disaster?
