Pandora Day of Silence, or Not?

Well, looks like those meddling politicians over in the USA have been at it again. Blinking Pandora radio seem as if they might be on the verge of “obliteration” as they quote on the home page of their web site. Pandora is definitely one of my favourite sites and certainly one of the most popular Internet radio sites on the web. In protest to the potential “Internet Radio Equality Act” which proposes to triple the licensing costs of streaming music over the internet Pandora have declared a day of silence suggesting to all their users that they can phone up their relevant US senator to complain.

This is a great move by Pandora, and whilst we here at FireflySEO totally agree with the sentiment, we have to point out one somewhat small but glaring omission in the plan which is that you can actually still listen to Pandora simply by viewing Google’s cached copy of the page.

We just wanted to bring this to your attention and as we are sure you know (but perhaps just forgot) if you want to stop people doing this simply put in place some password restriction. Not 100% sure how to do this in Jetty server running on Linux but perhaps some of you would be prepared to glean this information and help Pandora out.
